More eco-nomical deliveries in South East

IOA Group member, SE Leisure is reducing its carbon footprint at the same time as improving logistical efficiency following the addition of two new lorries to its fleet of delivery vehicles. As well as being compliant with the latest EEV (Enhanced Environmental Vehicle) Standards, currently among the most strict in Europe, the 10-tonne Iveco EuroCargo trucks run on five per cent biodiesel, with emissions from each and every journey neutralised by carbon offsetting.

SE Leisure Operations Director, Andrew Powell stated that 65 trees will be planted in the South East each year to compensate for the trucks’ carbon emissions. “Not only is this initiative more environmentally friendly,” he explained, “It will also help us to reduce costs through improved efficiency in our daily schedules.

“The two lorries are replacing much smaller 3.5-tonne vehicles and, whilst we have had to gain an HGV operators licence and train our drivers to higher qualification standards, customers should experience improved service standards through faster delivery and pick-up lead times, which are both greener and leaner.”
