Youth charity wins trade support
Leading youth charity OnSide North West is £250 better-off thanks to William Lees-Jones, managing director of Manchester-based JW Lees, who won the charitable donation following his participation in a market research initiative undertaken by machine operator the IOA Group. Mr Lees-Jones’ completed survey form was the first to be drawn at random by the IOA Group.
Explaining his chosen charity’s work he said: “I serve on the Board of OnSide and have seen the huge impact the provision of world class facilities have on the lives of young people. Our vision is to build a network of 21st century youth clubs or youth zones across the north west to provide young people in the region with opportunities to make positive and constructive use of their leisure time, to keep them off the streets and dissuade them from attempting to join the adult world of pubs and clubs long before they should. OnSide is a public/private sector initiative and donations like this are crucial and very much appreciated.”
The IOA Group survey, which was conducted amongst a sample of 452 customers and stakeholders, found that 91 per cent of respondents believed being independent represented a positive characteristic in today’s business world with fewer than one in five (18 per cent) saying they felt more secure entering into business agreements with PLCs than with independently owned organisations.
Reflecting on the survey findings, IOA Group vice chairman John Nolan commented: “Because the IOA is independent of any manufacturing interests we are able to provide truly impartial advice and consultancy to our pub customers. The survey generated some valuable insights and of course we are delighted to be able to support the great work undertaken by OnSide in the north west.”
