IOA use nationwide political lobby

The IOA Group, Britain’s largest independent machine operator, has deployed its national presence to help lobby on behalf of the gaming and amusements sectors.

George Osborne (Con, Tatton), Hilary Benn (Lab, Leeds Central) and David Heath (LD, Somerton and Frome) – three of the 19 Prospective Parliamentary Candidates targeted by the IOA Group. Each IOA member company stretching from Glasgow to Aylesford and from Hexham to Torquay has written to their prospective members of parliament highlighting the main issues and concerns impacting both their business and the sector at large.

The letters, which were despatched as soon as parliament was dissolved and the date for the general election was announced, extends a personal invitation for the prospective MPs to visit their IOA company, meet the local workforce and discuss pressing issues including Gross Profits Tax, Amusement Machine Licence Duty and the rate of pub closures.

John Powell, Chairman of the IOA Group, said: “As a national organisation the IOA has a business presence in 19 separate parliamentary constituencies with seats held by the Conservatives, the Labour Party, Liberal Democrats, the SNP and two Independents. In the last parliament IOA Group companies boasted big political hitters such as George Osborne, Oliver Letwin, Peter Luff, Hugh Robertson and Hilary Benn as their parliamentary representatives.

“It’s very important that the IOA Group is able to use its national presence to support the wider activities of BACTA and to ensure that the interests of our sector remain on the radar of politicians and the main political parties.”
