IOA Group launches research programme

As part of a root and branch review of its marketing and communications, pub machine operator The IOA Group has embarked upon a programme of market research initiatives commencing with the first IOA Perception Survey.

The self-complete survey has been despatched to a select sample of commercial and non-commercial stakeholders active across both the pub and low stake high volume gaming sectors. An unorthodox and imaginative incentive will see all returned survey forms entered into a draw with the winner receiving a £250 donation to their favourite charity or good cause courtesy of the IOA Group.

John Powell, chairman of the IOA Group, believes that it is vital to offer stakeholders a structured method of providing feedback and one in which anonymity is guaranteed. He explained: “The purpose of the survey is to get a measure of how the IOA Group is perceived by its various audiences, to identify areas where we are strong and of course those where we might be underperforming in order that shortcomings can be remedied. The research is being undertaken by an agency and none of the returned forms will be seen by the IOA. There is no requirement for respondents to identify themselves and if they choose to I can personally guarantee that information provided will not be attributed to individuals.

“We operate against a backdrop of change both in terms of the product type, the sector and the economy at large, factors which make it even more important for organisations such as the IOA Group, which is the largest independent machine operator in the country with close to 30,000 sited machines, to take regular soundings of the markets it serves.”

The IOA Perception Survey will be followed by a programme of qualitative one-to-one discussions and focus group research.
