IOA Group adopts Help For Heroes as first corporate charity
The IOA Group, Britain’s second largest operator of gaming and electronic leisure equipment, has announced the adoption of Help For Heroes as its first corporate charity. The decision to adopt its own charity was taken at the IOA’s autumn meeting with members subsequently agreeing to put their fund-raising efforts behind what has rapidly become one of the country’s highest profile and most successful fund-raising organisations.
Expanding on the decision, IOA National Account Manager Jane Kendall, who has been directly involved with the charity as a County Volunteer in Suffolk said: “Help For Heroes is a magnificent charity which was born out of the passion of three individuals, Mark Elliot together with husband and wife team Bryn and Emma Parry. From scratch it has raised over £24m to provide practical and direct support to servicemen and women wounded in the service of our country. It provides capped grants to those groups best able to deliver the facilities and services that are required and it is one of the most efficient fund-raisers in the country with £9.80 from every £10 raised going directly to the cause.“The IOA’s goal is to harness the support of all sectors of the gaming, amusements and pub sectors, including our member companies, staff, suppliers, colleagues, customers and players to help generate additional revenues. Our intention is to stage a number of participative fund-raising events on both national and regional levels and in so doing to demonstrate the tremendous level of compassion that underpins this business.”
Help For Heroes is involved in a number of large cap-ex projects including the funding of a rehabilitation complex at Headly Court, a post-traumatic stress treatment centre at Leatherhead and a relatives house at Selly Oak.
