IOA Group appoints Peter Weir to key role

The IOA Group, which with close to 30,000 installed machines is the UK’s second largest operator of gaming and electronic amusement equipment, has bolstered its management team with the appointment of former Leisure Link Commercial Director Peter Weir. Peter, who is respected as one of the most knowledgeable executives in the industry and has worked in the machine sector for over four decades, will be responsible for the development and testing of product as well as serving as the IOA’s interface with suppliers and manufacturers.

Explaining the importance of the role, IOA Chairman John Powell said: “We have set out a clear strategic development path for the Group and I am delighted that a man of Peter Weir’s calibre and experience is part of the team that will help us achieve our goals and objectives.

“In what are undoubtedly challenging times for the industry I am pleased to say that we are continuing to retain and win new business by delivering our customers with a combination of excellent service levels, the best products that are available and I believe by working harder than our competitors. Clearly product plays a central role and increasingly manufacturers are coming to the IOA first, in order to explore and discuss opportunities, to test and to fine tune their products prior to launch. Commenting on his new role, Peter Weir said: “Because the IOA is independent of any manufacturing interests it certainly makes it much easier to have an open and constructive dialogue with games developers. The truth of the matter is that we share the same goal and by working closely together and by sharing our insight and market knowledge I am confident that we will be able to rise to the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

In addition to his new IOA responsibilities, Peter is to continue in his role as a Director of Town and County Leisure.
